X
During this holiday season, I think it’s important that we remember a true pioneer in the holiday spirit, Professor Charles Xavier, Professor X, who dreamt of a world where mutants and humans could live next to one another in peace. Like Jews and Christians, like the Who’s and the Grinch, like Rudolph and the other reindeer. Actually, that last comparison is the most apt. Rudolph, clearly, was a mutant reindeer. No wonder he was ostracized. Professor X, had he been operating then, would have welcomed Rudolph to his school He could have been one of his original X-Men. Of course his powers were very weak. He was better suited to a Scooby-Doo cartoon than a fight against Magneto and the Brotherhood of Evil, so…
But regardless of how much a dick Professor X has been at various points in the past…
He dreamt of a world where everyone lived in peace and that’s a suitable holiday message, so let’s think of a world tonight where people can be as they are whether that be mutant or human, Muslim or Christian or Jew or Hindu or Zoroastrian or Pagan or Atheist or Gay or Straight or Trans or whatever you might be – and that’s okay. Because we can sometimes all be the “x”, the unknown quantity, and yet we’re all still people, deserving of respect and love. A little preachy, I know, but it’s Xmas Eve and I’m a little drunk. But Happy Holidays to you all.
