Shimmer Pirate Issue still available

I mentioned this before, and at the risk of being shameless in my self-promotion, the Pirate Issue of Shimmer Magazine, edited by John Joseph Adams, is still available (apparently) as a free download on the Shimmer website. Hey, it’s free fiction. If you don’t mind reading on a screen.

  • @pablod what burlesque? #
  • @pablod cool. Have a great time. Maybe Jo Boobs will perform? #
  • On some days the internet just seems slow. Today is one of those days. I think I saw a tumbleweed a second ago. #

  • Hmm. I was going to replace iDisk with Dropbox because it works on all platforms, but my flavor of linux isn’t compatible. Stupid Xandros. #
  • Friday, Friday, how I love thee. #
  • Last night I sat down to watch The Golden Compass and I can understand the criticism it got. Exposition, action, exposition, action, rush #
  • RT @bethwodzinski Shimmer: Help Wanted. http://tinyurl.com/bl48yn Please spread the word! #
  • I feel moody today. Generally calm but dismissive of people and things. Optimistic and also pessimistic. Flitting between states. #
  • On further examination, drop box seems to have little to offer me over iDisk. I already sync across Macs, and I can’t access it from work. #
  • And I can’t use it on the eee pc either. So…not the perfect solution I hoped it was. #
  • Motivation level nil. Still almost four hours to go in the day. Need…something… #
  • My ipod thinks that today is a good day for 90s BritPop. I can’t disagree. #
  • Who wants to hire me and pay me buckets of money? Anyone? Bueller? #
  • One hour until freedom. Will I make it? Will I last? It seems doubtful… #
  • I need to get out of here. Only 20 minutes or so, but I feel trapped. Trapped, I tell you. I long to taste freedom. #
  • Weekend a here but I don’t feel any better. Sometimes I hate brain chemistry. #

Another mantra

Another mantra for me this year is “Never rely on anyone else for anything if you can help it.” Which is not to say that everyone is unreliable, but it’s safer to assume that something will happen to prevent it. Recent events have taught me that this is a better way to exist. And hey, if someone does come through, it’s a nice thing.

Shimmer needs help

I just wanted to pass on a request from Beth Wodzinski of Shimmer Magazine for help. They are looking for a slush reader and a web assistant.

Full details can be found here.

I may be biased, Shimmer bought two stories from me, but they’re a great independent publication and though you wouldn’t get paid, you’d be helping keep a desperately needed market going.

Raining Fire – Out now!

Raining Fire, the third and final book in the Ben Gold series, was released on July 18, 2017. This book concludes the story begun in Falling Sky and Rising Tide. Publisher’s Weekly said, “Khanna wraps up his postapocalyptic adventure series with a capable page-turner…the airships, slavers, cannibalistic Ferals, and visceral action scenes make this a worthy culmination to the series.”

Available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble now.

Rising Tide -Out now!

Rising Tide, the sequel to Falling Sky, was released on October 6, 2015. Publisher's Weekly said, "Khanna crafts a terrifyingly dismal picture of the future, raising the stakes by gradually stripping Ben of friends and support while throwing him into increasingly dire situations. His worldbuilding remains solid and unsettling, and he never loses sight of the human element. The cliffhanger ending is sure to leave readers on the edges of their seats, panting for resolution."

Falling Sky – Out now!

Falling Sky, my first novel, came out October 7, 2014 from Pyr. It's an adventure story set in a post-apocalyptic future with airships. Publisher's Weekly called it a "solid and memorable debut" while Library Journal gave it a starred review and named it Debut of the Month. For more information, please click here.
